"Hearing the Heart of the Father"
  By Alma M. Perry

Worship God for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy Rev. 19:10b

“To the Beloved of the Lord who has a desired to hear His heart, and the courage to live His life. That He might be glorified.”

It was the prophet Moses who inquired of the Lord: "If I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way that I may know thee." (Exodus 33:13) The Lord is revealing His "way" to the hungry and thirsty of His people who are willing to pay the price to know Him. The Spirit of God is raising up those in this day who will function not only in the pulpit before men, but behind the veil as kings and priest before God as "workers together with Him." To bring forth His divine purposes in the end-times. It is the mind of God to use "Prophetic Intercession" to help bring those things to pass that are upon His heart that concern His people in this hour. At the same time conforming them to His image and preparing them to reign eternally with Him.

It is time that God's people learn to live and flow in the Spirit with Him. We find that in this day the manifestation of the power of Christ will be revealed through the corporate Body.  People gathered together in His Name who are of the same precious faith, seeking to please Him, waiting upon Him in praise and worship. Those who will hearken to the voice of His command. The ministry of Prophetic Intercession is a life lived in and by the Spirit, not a method, but a life of divine union with the Lord in which the desires of His heart, and the counsel of His will is made known and manifested in the earth through His Body.

It is a life and function of a holy, royal priesthood. "Ye also, as lively stones are built up a spiritual house a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should shew the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (I Peter 2:5&9). There has always been a cry in the heart of God for His people to be available to that which concerns His eternal will and purpose in the earth. Prophetic intercession is known as the short cut in intercession. I believe as a people come into a heavenly spiritual position in Christ, we will flow in the Spirit as the divine will of God is revealed by revelation, to be prayed and sung through to manifestation.

"If ye abide in Me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). Even as a baby is conceived and forms into an embryo, this life of coming into union with our Lord to hear and speak the word that is in His heart, begins the very same way. As we lay our natural lives down at His feet coming under His Lordship, He leads us into identification with Him in His Cross. Only the crucified in Christ can come into this place of abiding in Him, where all self-love, love of the world and great natural affection toward family is forsaken. Only when we are consumed with the passion of the Spirit to please Him alone, can we go through the preparation that is necessary to come into union with Him. This preparation is one of identification with Christ in His crucifixion, death, resurrection and ascension. As we are raised up out of the old life into the newness of His life experientially, we will come into His abiding rest which is union with Christ. It is in this place of union, the place of abiding in Christ which we hear what is in His heart and His mind. It is here that the ministry of prophetic intercession in spiritual authority and power flows, out of relationship with God.

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit" ( James 5:16b-18).

The definition for the word "intercessor" in Hebrew is to come in betwixt (between). An intercessor is one who comes in between God and God's just wrath and judgment. The intercessor stands before God, positions himself between God and those who deserve God's wrath and judgment. "Neither is there any daysman (Hebrew - plead, reason together) betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both" (Job 9:33). The reason for the intercession is that "it is not the will of a merciful God to pour out wrath, but instead to show mercy." It is a divine law of God in His kingdom that all sin must be judged. For this reason God has always had Himself a priesthood. The function of the priesthood is to intercede on behalf of those who are bound by Satan in sin - those who are in darkness who cannot pray for themselves. For those who are bound God does not blame or unrighteously judge them, but in great mercy seeks a way to bring deliverance to the person or people. Also a people who would pray His prophetic word that His ordained purposes would come to pass in the earth through the Church, even as in the case with the intercession of Daniel for the restoration of Jerusalem after Babylonian captivity.

We could not be redeemed without Christ our great intercessor and High Priest coming to die on the cross, and redeeming us by His blood. So in this day He has need of those who would join with Him at the throne in spiritual intercession to bring manifest deliverance, and life to His people, and to bring forth His end-times purposes in the earth.

It was in this ministry of the prophet-priest that Elijah functioned. First praying the "word" of the Lord until the fullness of time came that that "word" would come to pass. Then he went forth to the King and announced God's judgment on Israel. He prayed the "word" of God that was spoken by the Lord to Israel many years before in Deuteronomy 11:16&17. "Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them."  And then the Lord's wrath be kindled against you and He shut up heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth you."  This was not a judgment unto death for the people but a judgment unto repentance to "turn back to God." The principle of intercession that the Holy Spirit wants us to see here is that; although the Lord spoke these words, "they could not come to pass without someone praying them into manifestation." This is prophetic intercession in action. A "word" from God prayed into actual manifestation. There are some God-given words that are prophetic and creative in nature that comes to past even as they are spoken here on earth through a chosen vessel.

But in the wisdom and ways of God in His kingdom; there are "words" spoken by God as in this case that has to be prayed into manifestation. Another instance is in the case of Israel in the book of Numbers 16; Korah, Dathan and Abiram came against Moses's authority. The result was a judgment unto death. On the next day the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron saying, "Ye have killed the people of the Lord." At this point the Lord spoke judgment on the people saying He would consume them in a moment. Moses told Aaron to quickly put fire on the censer from the altar to make atonement for the plague had started. The fire in the censer speaks of prayer "fervent prayer" even as the smoke rose up to God; scripture says "And he stood between the dead and and the living; and the plague was stayed" Numbers 16:48. It is prayer that is fervent in nature coming from the great burden of God's heart for that person or people that causes the heavens to open and redemption to take place.

Praying in the Spirit - Singing in the Spirit

In order to live and move in the Spirit in this spiritual ministry of prophetic intercession, one must be spiritual. To be spiritual your spirit - man must be built up at all times. And in order for your spirit - man to be built up and strong, one must pray and sing in the spirit as much as praying and singing with the understanding. The "understanding" means your mother tongue that you speak to others, in the country you live in. According to the book of Jude in verse 20 it is stated, "But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost."

One can only pray and sing in tongues if they are baptized in the Holy Spirit according to Acts 1:8, 2:4, 10:44-46, 19:1-6, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. The Holy Ghost, the Spirit of truth teaches us in I Corinthians 14: 14-15 pertaining to the supernatural endowment and manifestation of tongues by the Holy Ghost through the baptized believer.

We are taught in scripture that praying in tongues is praying in the spirit or by your human redeemed spirit. "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

So far in the teachings in this book, you have learned that the spirit of prayer and song are the foundation of operating in the throne realm in the priestly ministry of prophetic intercession. With this further knowledge given to us in scripture regarding tongues, we see how we can operate fully in the Spirit in this ministry by also praying and singing in unknown tongues.

Referring back to the book of Jude, verse 20, "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost," we see that praying in the Holy Ghost is praying in the spirit, and praying in the spirit is praying in unknown tongues. When our spirit - man is prays, our spirit becomes strengthen. When the spirit - man is strengthen then we can hear clearly the voice of the God. The mysteries that we are praying at the time we are praying in unknown tongues, which are unknown to our understanding, will manifest in our daily life and ministry in divine revelation, which will be an interpretation of what we had prayed and song earlier in tongues.

When our spirit - man is strengthen, the Holy Spirit can flow freely through us if we are walking in obedience to the Lord in submission to His will. The result of which will cause us to walk and live in the "spirit of holiness," which is a must if the Holy Spirit will flow through us in supernatural power.

And if we are walking in all of the above He will speak to us in a way that we will know it is God, and He will flow through us in the power of the Spirit in such a way that not only we will know that it is God, but others will know also. For their lives will be supernaturally changed as a result of the out flowing of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

By praying and singing in tongues, you will come into a life of unceasing divine revelation of the Holy Spirit. Revelation will be given pertaining to every area of your life that you will need to hear from God. And in the realm of ministry to God's people, divine revelation will flow for teaching, healing, and all that is needed to the birthing of God's people into the Spirit to be joined in spiritual union with Him.

In the realm of "song;" songs will be revealed to you supernaturally that you did not have to think of, for they will flow right into your spirit. And when you sing them there will be a prophetic manifestation of what you are singing. If they are song of adoration to Jesus, then you will ascend higher in the Spirit to the throne, and if you are leading God's people in worship they will ascend with you. If they are praise songs revealed to you proclaiming who God is and what He has done, then there will be a manifestation in the heavenlies of principalities and power being displaced that will cause the heavens to open over a particular situation, or over a particular region, city or nation. Then the prayers of God's people in those regions can get through to the throne to bring the rule of Jesus, the manifestation of His Kingdom in that situation or place.

Praying and singing in the Spirit; in tongues, along with praying and singing with your understanding will bring you into a life of power in the Spirit if you are living an obedient and holy life unto God. If you do not have a life of flowing in the Spirit in praying and singing in tongues, I suggest taking as least fifteen minutes in the morning, and fifteen minutes at night before you go to bed, to discipline yourself to praying in the spirit. You must develop discipline to operate in this realm of the Spirit. It is wise to shut everything out around you by getting on your knees to pray. In this way you will not be distracted.

Once your spirit - man begins to strengthen you will find that there will be an unction of the Holy Spirit flowing in your spirit where even when you begin to pray with your understanding you will find yourself also praying in tongues. The same unction of the Spirit will manifest in singing. When you are singing with all your heart, you will find yourself wanting, and even pressed to sing in tongues also.

But I want warn as Scripture teaches us in I Corinthians 14, in the congregation of the righteous, we are to pray or sing in tongues quietly, without others hearing, so that there will not be a distraction in the gathering. When the spirit of prophecy comes upon you, you will know by the Spirit of God to speak or sing out loud, trusting that it will be in God's order in the service. When one is leading worship, there are times, when the Holy Spirit is in control of the service that there will be spontaneous corporate singing with the understanding and then singing in tongues by the Holy Spirit's anointing.

Lift up your heads O ye gates; even lift them ye everlasting doors. And the King of Glory shall come in. Who is the King of Glory? The Lord of Host, He is the King of Glory. Psalms 24: 9-10

Supernatural Intervention in the Realm of Praise & Worship

My first experiences with the supernatural power of praise and worship began in the early years of my walk with the Lord. Five times in corporate meetings while praising God I have found myself on the floor before Him placed there by the Spirit of the Lord coming down upon me and my spirit-man ascending into a place before His throne. It was in May of 1992 that I was given a quicken word by the Holy Spirit, Psalms 24:9 &10.

"Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah."

This was the first time that a word preceded the experience of worship.  I knew in my spirit it was prophetic; spoken by the Lord to me. Then He quickened to me the song, "Lift Up Your Head O' Ye Gates." I felt a burden in my spirit I was to sing this song until it actually came to past in our midst. A week later I was asked to lead worship at church. I was determined in my heart I was going to lift my head in song and not stop singing until the "King of Glory" came into the meeting. I started singing the song, and I soon felt I had hit something in the Spirit realm supernaturally and found myself on my knees with my forehead touching the floor.

I believe at that time in my walk with God, I could not come any closer to Him, to experience an actual manifestation of the King coming into our meeting. But He allowed me to have the supernatural experience because the principal of persistence in faith was scriptural,  but spiritually I was not sanctified enough for a present manifestation of His coming. When we receive a quicken (revealed) song from the Holy Spirit and sing it persistently it will cause our spirit to ascend into the place of the heavenlies where He dwells, if we have yielded ourselves to the fire of the Holy Spirit to bring a greater purity of sanctification in our hearts.

In the book of II Chronicles we find the perfect example of the power of prophetic song in demonstration in the life of King Jehoshaphat of Judah and Jerusalem.  Three nations were sent by Satan to annihilate God's people. Jehoshaphat's reaction was to throw himself and the people upon the mercy of almighty God. In response the Lord spoke through the prophet-priest Jahaziel with divine direction, by saying, "And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat. Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. Tomorrow go ye down against them; behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle; set yourselves stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem; fear not, not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them; for the Lord will be with you.

And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers, unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, so they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord: for His mercy endureth forever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten" (II Chronicles 20:15-17, 20-22).

The Spirit of God has placed this true story here to show us the way of the Spirit in bringing about a sure victory in opposing circumstances and people. The "words" that were used to praise the Lord were what the Spirit of the Lord performed in their midst. This is prophetic intercession in song, for what they sung to the Lord is what manifested in their situation upon the earth supernaturally. He manifested "His continuous and everlasting mercy" as the singers went forth in faith believing the "word of the Lord" that was sung at this critical time. The Lord moved in mercy and allowed the enemies of His people to be defeated in battle according to II Chronicles 20:20b, "Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established: believe His prophets, so shall ye prosper."

Prophetic Praise and Worship Intercession

In the last days revelation is coming forth as never before regarding the power of ministering to the Lord in song. The very nature of "prophetic song" which is a song that is quickened by the Spirit of God is to lift one into the Spirit. It can be a new song, one given to you that you have never heard before, or it can be a song that you have heard before, borne of the Spirit, prophetic in nature; spoken of God.

The secret to the power of each song is that the Holy Spirit inspired it. It is as though you found yourself singing a song that came out of nowhere.  In the past, before knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom was revealed to us, we really had no idea of the true reason why song would come to our spirits. I believe we felt that the Holy Spirit just wants to comfort us or bring forth a note of victory in praise in our situation, and this is true He does want to comfort us. But what He wants in a greater way is for us to experience the victory He gave His life for. We will soon see if we will really listen and mediate on what is being said in the song, that the Lord is speaking to us through the song. He is telling us what is going to come to pass.

We are to continue to sing the song and as we obey in faith what He is saying to us through the song, we will find that more light or divine knowledge will come into our lives to help us to overcome. Literally, the heavens are opening and principalities and powers are being dethroned in our situation, and deliverance can begin to take place.

Even as a bird as the Lark, sings and ascends in the sky, we will begin to ascend spiritually. As we sing, our spirit will begin to rise above the turmoil, above the fear and confusion. This level of spiritual height will bring us to a place where we can hear further instruction from the Holy Spirit in that situation. Spiritual things are heard and experienced in the higher levels of the Spirit. So we must ascend into that higher place spiritually. And the way is through singing a revealed Word from the Holy Spirit.

"Let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand. To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people. To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron. To execute upon them the judgment written. This is the honor have all His saints, Praise ye the Lord" (Psalms 149:6-9).

According to scripture the high praises and the two-edged sword "the Word of God"  (Heb. 4:12) are needed to successfully dethrone Satan and his cohorts from our lives, and the lives of those for whom we are called to stand in the gap. Can you imagine the spirit of man sharing the weight of the burden of the Spirit of God? It is impossible for one to bear such a burden without the spirit of prophetic praise and worship.

The spirit of Prophetic Praise and Worship has a two-fold purpose, they are:

First, the spirit of song has the power to lift one into the realm of the Spirit where the heart and mind of God is revealed. Singing songs that are divinely inspired of the Spirit has the unique power to cause our spirit-man to ascend upward in the Spirit into the realm of the heavenlies.  The prophetic word in song will destroy the strongholds of lies and deception that hold the people in bondage to the enemy. This is the realm of the prophetic of the revealed mind and heart of God. "Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end" (Psalms. 73:17). It is not until you ascend spiritually into His presence, which is spoken of as the "Sanctuary of God," that you can receive the divine light of spiritual understanding.

The other purpose of God in the spirit of song is keeping our focus on the Lord. The burden of God in most cases is not just a few minutes of prayer regarding an issue; but a life of song and prayer that can last for months and years. There are short - term and long - term burdens. During this time, we must become conscious of the ways the Holy Spirit is ministering to us in song as part of the ministry of intercession.

"Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel. And the Lord shall cause His glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of His arm, with the indignation of His anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones. For through the voice of the Lord shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.

And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the Lord shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets (tambourines) and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it." Isaiah 30:29-32. Here we see the combination of "song, the voice of the Lord and musical instruments" coming together in a battle against the Assyrian, who is Satan in this aspect of scripture. In II Kings 3, the king of Israel asked Jehoshaphat, king of Judah to go with him into battle against Moab who rebelled against the king of Israel. They went the way of the wilderness of Edom to battle with Moab but because of the way they went there was no water for their host and the cattle they had with them.

The King of Israel, with an evil heart of unbelief, accused the Lord. Jehoshaphat who trusted in the Lord said, "Is there not here a prophet of the Lord that we may enquire of the Lord by him?" And one of the kings of Israel's servants answered and said, here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.  And Jehoshaphat said, the "word" of the Lord is with him." In verse fifteen when they arrived Elijah said

"But now bring me a minstrel (Hebrew: player on string instrument, traveling musician). And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.  And he said; "Thus saith the Lord..." The word of the Lord came as the minstrel played. According to scripture, singing unto the Lord with instrument when one has entered spiritual union with the Lord will cause a hearing of His voice. Thus the manifestation of the prophetic anointing; the "Word" of the Lord comes forth. Both scriptures speak of a battle in progress. In our lives when we recognize that we are in the midst of a storm; in the midst of a battle as we sing even with instruments, His glorious voice will be heard in the heavenlies by principalities and power. They will be beaten down and smote with a rod.

Even by the hearing of His voice which is initiated by our singing with musical instruments. We see this in the life of David, as he was one who played a harp and sang. He won many battles in the Name of the Lord because of this powerful relationship of ministering unto the Lord. David knew the Lord would go into battle on His behalf. I have seen in others and experienced in my own life the call to play a musical instrument because of the "call" of the Lord on my life to minister on behalf of His people and for my own behalf in the area of spiritual warfare.

Prophetic Song in Battle

Some years ago my family and I were in a serious spiritual battle. This battle was the result of a very important intercession. We were at the consummation of this intercession in which we were involved in for years. An intercession that I believe to be God's plan to bring victory to many in the Body of Christ The enemy came against us through manifestations of pride, strife, division, contention, and accusation. Each time we stood on the word of God, the sword of the Spirit that was given to us by the Spirit. The scripture which was given was Rev. 12:10 & 11. "And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ. For the accuser of our brethren is cast down. Which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony. And they loved not their lives unto death."

We also continued to sing the "high praises" that were given to us during those years. In the wisdom of God in training His elect, He allowed us to go through this manifestation of Satan in a first set of circumstances involving individuals and at the present time I am speaking of. Then at a second time we experienced the same warfare, with different individuals. This time the pressure of opposition coming against us was so great that we had to press into God by praising Him. As a matter of fact only praising God gave us relief and victory. The Songs given were ‘The Battle Belongs to the Lord and I Will Not Be Afraid of Ten Thousand of People."

We continued to sing them until we ascended into a place of unmovable faith and joy in the situation. Where as before there was the oppression of fear and torment. After this time of ministering unto the Lord and gaining spiritual victory our circumstances changed, and the people involve who Satan used begin to change. I believe that all that we have gone through and presently going through in the realm of prophetic intercession is to bring greater manifestation of knowledge and wisdom to the Church. It is the Lord's will to have a glorious Church, a Bride terrible as an army with banners. As we learn spiritual warfare not from an earthly position but a heavenly position we will be a part of that Church.

In the year "1995" the Spirit of the Lord told me that my family and I were priests. Supernaturally the Lord used His people in the Body of Christ to give my children instruments without them asking for them. My daughter plays two instruments and my son, one. Both play prophetically and by ear. At this writing, my son is eleven years old. We have lived a life of praise and worship with both children since they were born.

When my daughter was seven years old, we would always sing to the Lord in the car on the way to her school and my work. Because of the distance we spent almost an hour on the road, during that time we spent singing. One day on our way home I could not sing, for I was under the attack of an oppressing spirit which came against me that day at work. Days before at a prayer meeting a group of us were worshipping God with the accompaniment of a pianist. God's plan in this case was to use a piano, for a piano is a string instrument. We were led to sing the song "Our God Reigns," we sang and sang the song. Surely the prophetic anointing of the Lord was upon us, as I was to find out a few days later. Back to riding in the car with my daughter who did not attend that meeting. Out of no where she began to sing "Our God Reigns." As she sang the power of the Holy Spirit broke the yoke of that oppression from me. I rejoiced and began to sing with her. She knew nothing of the experience in the Spirit with the same song a few days earlier. It was all a divine working of the mercy and power of our God to teach us that there is salvation in ministering unto Him in song because of our love for Him.

As my daughter continued to sing and worship the Lord with me the prophetic anointing that manifested in her life never left her as she grew older. The Holy Spirit used her many times to share a song from the Lord with us that was a present word to give us victory in our lives at the time we needed to hear from God. Raising children to follow after the Lord requires a great discipline to not compromise with the world. I have seen where many Christians believe that holiness and a holy walk with God is for them, but it is too much to ask of their children. This is not the mind of the Spirit According to the word of God. God calls families.

In September of "1995" the Holy Spirit gave me the revelation on "Prophetic Praise and Worship Intercession." I shared the teaching for the first time at a Women's Aglow Fellowship meeting in Clinton, Maryland, that same month. In that meeting there were four people, a mother and three daughters from a larger family who came from a small city a distance away. When the meeting was over a very nice woman asked me if I would teach a monthly women's meeting for them.

I felt led of the Spirit to say "yes." The Spirit of the Lord touched that family in a beautiful way. After ministering to the mother the Spirit of the Lord spoke to me and said "You are going to this city. I had never been there so I asked my husband how far it was. He said about three hours away. I went to the first meeting with the women's group in October with my sister, Christine. To my amazement, the meeting was held at the home of one of the daughters who lived here in the Washington area.

At that meeting the Spirit of the Lord, quickened me with a teaching from I Kings 18.The key scriptures being 41-45. "And Elijah said unto Ahab, get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. Therefore, Ahab went up to eat and to drink.  Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth and put his face between his knees. And said to his servant, go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, there is nothing. And he said, go again, seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not." Again we see the principle of prophetic intercession in action. He prayed until it came to pass. The rains came.

In that first meeting with this group of women, the Spirit of the Lord gave us a commission from that teaching "to come together for the next seven Saturdays and pray for the rains of God." At the time, they were meeting only once a month. So it was quite a challenge and sacrifice to come together every week. There were twelve of us and many of us did not know the other. Some of the women from the Women Aglow meeting in September joined this group. It was the first time in my life that I received such a commission for a people from the Lord. So for seven weeks we met, praying for the rains of God in obedience to the "word of the Lord." The Holy Spirit also gave us songs on the rains of God. So we sang and we prayed for the rains, with that word alone.

At the beginning of December, near the end of the seven weeks, the woman in whose home we were meeting called me. She said her mother asked when we were coming to their city. Immediately I saw it was an open door for what the Spirit of the Lord told me months earlier.  I told her we would come at the end of December. After the seven weeks ended the majority of the women who prayed went their separate ways. Only a few of us were left to go to visit this city. At first they said only a few people were coming to the meeting. That was fine with me for I felt such an operation of the Holy Spirit in the area of faith in action. I felt we would go and just shout on the land of that city and return home.

I have found that the operation of the Holy Spirit in giving a "word of knowledge" will always bring a supernatural operation of "the gift of faith." It did not matter to me if no one came the morning of the visit to this city. The Holy Spirit gave me a word of knowledge; He told me that this would be a "Cornelius experience." I was also led to teach from Acts chapter 10 for that meeting. When we arrived, family members and friends continued to come until the house was filled with men, women and children. We sang one song, which flowed, and I could feel the brooding of the Holy Spirit, to minister was effortless under His power.

After sharing Acts 10, I asked if anyone wanted to give their lives to the Lord. First a niece of the family came forward, then the Spirit of the Lord was poured out as family members and friends begin to give their lives to the Lord and spontaneously being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Men were weeping on their knees. That family and their friends were changed eternally because a small group of women were submissive and obedient to the "word of the Lord." In the days to come, I believe using the "Cornelius Experience" (the gathering of family and friends) is one of the ways the "the Lord will make Himself known to His people in a greater way. His time has come for families.
